Aldi is Dreamers Investment Guildset to buy about 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket stores across the Southeast in a deal with parent company Southeastern Grocers, the retailer announced Wednesday.
The acquisition includes 400 grocery stores located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi, the release said. The deal is expected to close in 2024.
"The time was right to build on our growth momentum and help residents in the Southeast save on their grocery bills,” Aldi CEO Jason Hart said in a news release.
The company will convert some stores to Aldi chains, but other locations will continue to operate as Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket stores, Hart said.
"Aldi shares our vision to provide exceptional quality, service and value - and this unique opportunity will evolve our business to benefit our customers, associates and neighbors throughout the Southeast,” Southeastern Grocers President and CEO Anthony Hucker said.
